Bhagwat ~ Your words are so astonishingly kind. It's certainly my prayer to express something of the beauty that arises in my life, and to help others. I am certain *you* are the radiantly illuminating soul and I hope we'll have more ways to connect in the future.

From my heart to yours,
Mahala

Shannon ~Thank you so much for your kind words. They really do mean a lot to me.

I love that whole experience of gap! To know you are truly a beautiful spirit, and to know you can find that gap and remember, rediscover it. Such a gift!

Mahala,
This is a beautiful & wise post — filled with your luminous heart !! I love how you see the pain and potential that lies at the heart of this experiences — to notice and choose how we respond. Transformational indeed.

For me the gift of meditation has been that I have greater awareness of the workings of my monkey mind and a sense of gap between the beautiful spirit I am and the chatter of my mind.

It's opened me up to knowing that I can shift in any given moment to choosing a response that feels more honoring, peaceful, compassionate and loving.

And it's given me grace when I don't respond this way, to know that I can choose differently the next time.

Love and light,
Shannon

Hi David. I was busy replying when your comment came in last night.

Thanks for your thoughts and the tweets that almost made me cry.

I think I have to write a "confession" post before too long. I am genuinely terrible at spending much time on the meditation cushion. Because of that (maybe instead of it) I'm very focused on bringing practice awareness into life, happily with visible results.

Hot day today. Water. Lemon. Agave. With ice.

Leah ~ Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. Took a quick spin over to your blog. (Will take more time with it, but it's past my bedtime now) Know so well the distractions we find when our creativity is aching to come forward.

Rosalind ~ Don't we all do that? Push aside our meditation when we get busy and stressed when it may just be the one thing that can help us most. Ahh, human nature... Enlightening words. I love that! Something to aspire to.

Julie ~ I'm sorry for your hard and upside down and pray there are blessings that may be hidden now that will reveal themselves to you. It sounds like you're turning to the right tools and giving yourself love and care.

Please let me know whatever I can do to support you. You can reach me here on the blog or DM me on Twitter.

Thanks to all of you for kind words of support! Sweet dreams!

Your writing is very clear and simple. Refreshing!

I also like how you write about meditation as not just sitting on a cushion. In my own practice, it's been too easy to simply close off again after I get up.

For me it's been a harder practice to keep the same awareness throughout the day. Those times when I'm able to do it are like a drink of water on a hot day.

With lemon.

I am in one of those hard places right now where my life's been turned upside down. Meditation, reiki, walking and just simple awareness are the tools I'm reaching for again and again. Being simple, being present, and accepting myself where I am is what's getting me through.

Thank you for reminding me how important it is to use the tools in the bad times too. And congrats on your new blog!

Wonderful post! Meditation always helps me stay centered, when I do it. Funny how I drop it out at my most stressed moments, which is when I really need it most. Thanks for your enlightening words.
