Prayer Beads and Sacred Jewelry : The Luminous Heart Collection

I began making beaded handmade jewelry in 2000 and prayer beads followed a few years later. As someone who is sensitive to the healing vibration of stones, stringing beads is a joyful and meditative practice.

I always feel I am making a piece for someone special, even though I don’t know who that someone is at the moment.

Prayer Beads for Meditation

The word mala means garland in sanskrit. This can be a garland of beads, of flowers, or a garland of prayers.

The 108 bead prayer beads and wrist malas in the Luminous Heart Collection are garlands of jewels and organic materials. These mala beads are strung in a sacred process with the intention of supporting your prayer, mantra and meditation practices.

My pieces are not mass produced! I take great delight in searching out the highest quality, most beautiful beads for these malas. I choose stones with the best vibration for meditation and make one-of-a-kind and limited edition malas.

Prayer beads are found in nearly every spiritual tradition. They are known by many names including malas, japa malas, juzu, rosaries and tren wei. My frame of reference is mala beads as they are used in Tibetan Buddhism.

Retreats and Trunk Shows

Creating these pieces is a meditative process. I set aside retreat time for making prayer beads and jewelry. Then, a few times I year I hold “online trunk shows” to sell my latest work.
